More M9 Phrobis At Goverment auction

There are some more M9 Phrobis being auctioned on the "Government liquidation" web site. Some appear to be the early three line 2nd generation. Check it out. Good luck numberonegi.

I purchased a Phrobis from numberonegi. Seems like there are very few 4th generations coming out of surplus. Anybody have any production figures on the different generations?
I had thoughts of trying to purchase some from surplus. Not too sure its worth it after getting them shipped and you are buying sight unseen. Could get a pile of junk. I guess it would be well worth a trip if you lived close to one of the sites.

I think the same.
While the pictures provided in the link that pancanal posted in the other topic are not indicative of what you could actually get, there is the possibility to receive a lot like one of these



with a collector's value really low.

About government auctions: I have purchased many edged weapons and other military surplus from the US Army and Gov Liquidation over the last 12 + years. I offer the following advice. If you do not inspect the items before purchase you are going to be disappointed more often than not. In addition to the initial inspection you should document your findings with a third party. This documentation will protect you from loses due to change outs and shortages at the storage facility upon completion of an auction. After you win an auction, you should conduct a follow-up inspection to insure change outs and shortages have not occurred. If they have you should negotiate allowances prior to delivery of your winnings. On more than one occasion I have been very disappointed with items changed or taken from my original inspection results. As a fact, I received M7’s instead of M9’s recently; but, once I did receive M9’s instead of M7’s. It is a risky business at best if you do not CYA at all times. PanCanal, Thanks for the heads up concerning GL. Being retired military I have a contact that checked them out for me. Ohio was too far for me to visit for a small quantity. Many of the lots were found to be rough at best. As many as half of some lots were LanCay (5 of 5). I picked up two lots of 10that may turn out to be good. If there are any outstanding finds in this batch I will present them to this forum for viewing and discussion before stashing or selling them. Semper Fi, SignalSoldier

I am very much intersted in your forum. As a WWII military colletor/dealer, the M9 has taken me by storm over the last few years. Still amazes me as to how much more there is to learn. I believe my observations from large quantity surplus may be of interest to the forum and possibly fill some gaps.
As an example, a recent purchase of some Buck+ USMC's from the Marines was enlightening to me. May be old news to you; but, if intersted in knowing my findings I will share. Semper Fi, SignalSoldier
