M9 bayonet spec tests. What can it do?

I've always been troubled by the few blades that broke during use or abuse. I have read that it can do a dead lift of 400 pounds without breaking (how was that done?), and a blade flex of 1/2 inch without breaking or getting a "set" in the blade, and also, a drop test from 5 feet onto concrete on the tip without damage.

What tests did this M9 bayonet have to endure in order to pass the original trials?
How was the Phrobis III M9 able to excel enough to beat the competition? Is there a link someone can share to find this out? Thanks.
Marv

Hi Marv, There was a report done after the 1986 trials that outlined all of the tests and how each participant did. I looked quick but didn't see a copy of the report anywhere on line.
